Initial situation
The task was to display beaches in a user friendly manner to increase sales.
Solution
The “Beach Finder”. By using the tick boxes on this site (i.e. region, town, palm tree beach, sand or pebbled beach etc) a selection of beaches can be found which match the criteria that the user is looking for. Interactive maps show the holiday destination where such beaches can be found. Further information and lots of stunning photographs, including a 360° view, are used to illustrate the favoured destination.
Implementation
AJAX and further web 2.0 technology was used for this platform whereby greatest attention was paid to the fact that the page had to be visible for the search engines and the content had to be presented in a search engine optimized way.
Result
The webpage ranks within the top positions of the natural search index for over 450 search terms that are used in the highly competitive travel trade.
Next to each beach that is shown on the site a number of package holiday offers to the destination are displayed. Sales to these destinations have increased significantly.
